GIVING HOPE TO A CHILD (GHTC)
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Giving Hope is a non-profit organization based in Austrheim, outside the city of Bergen in Norway. The objective of the foundation is to give humanitarian help to children in Africa, and especially towards the children of Liberia.
The foundation was establish on the initiative of Mr. Jusu Gyflan, born in Liberia and being a refugee in Liberia and Guinea before coming to Norway in 2003. The main goal for Giving Hope, as for the involvement in Liberia, is to provide help to children in need, including scholarship, education, health care, agriculture, living skills, extra-curricular development and local community development. The programmatic Framework; the Liberia United Methodist Development Services, Liberia United Methodist Church. The foundation was founded by Francis Jusu, who relocated to Norway at the age of 19 after spending many years in a refugee camp, the organization reflects his dedication to giving back to vulnerable communities and children in need.
Over the last few years the foundation have provided school kits supplies and tuition assistance to over 20,000 students and also the installation of solar plates to two public schools. The Giving Hope foundation now sponsored four (4) public schools with school kits and tuition assistance. In 2025 Giving Hope has 206 beneficiary students in all four schools (Velley ta, Vartikeh, Dementa and Bong counties). Our partners Giving Hope Norway is visiting Liberia in 2025. Their mission is to assess the work of Giving Hope support to schools in Liberia, meeting with students and parents and participate in the extra-curricular activities for student’s development. The Norwegian Donors visit continued with GHTAC staff, the regular school engagement is focus on reviving the connection between our friends in Norway, and schools in Liberia, including fostering a healthy academic and extracurricular environment for schools on the Giving Hope program.
Objective(s):
To ensure that all beneficiary students are prepare for the next academic year, gathering information on hygiene of students and to engage with parents and teachers on how to have a safe learning environment for the students.
The outputs are:
Ensure that beneficiary students are prepare for next academic year.
Refrainment from violence and abuse.
Expand the minds of the beneficiary students in the four public schools. .
Number of scholarship students to improved education
The ability to read, spell and pronounce words correctly and new words.
To inspire self -reliance and sustainability development of the livelihoods of the villagers
To build resilient communities that can support their children’s growth and education.
To understand the importance of education and the great outcome of education.
